The Opportunity   

The role of The Senior Precast Concrete Technologist is the technical authority for concrete materials, mix design, testing, quality assurance and production performance within Built Living’s precast manufacturing operations.

The role ensures concrete remains stable, workable and producible throughout the manufacturing cycle while consistently achieving required strength, durability, dimensional accuracy, colour consistency and premium architectural surface finishes.

The position will transfer international best practice into the Neerabup AMF, support commissioning and optimisation, and lead lower-carbon concrete development without compromising manufacturing reliability or product performance.

In this role, you will:   

• Develop, validate and continuously optimise concrete mix designs for structural and architectural precast products.
• Act as technical authority for cement systems, aggregates, admixtures, fibres, alternative binders, curing methods, durability and reinforcement interaction.
• Establish robust laboratory testing, quality control, inspection and traceability systems aligned with standards, specifications and manufacturing objectives.
• Optimise workability retention, rheology, setting characteristics, early strength, demoulding performance, colour consistency and surface finish quality.
• Own continuous improvement of architectural precast façade quality, including defect prevention, rectification and acceptance standards.
• Develop and commercialise lower-carbon concrete solutions while protecting strength, durability, workability, production efficiency and architectural quality.
• Provide hands-on technical support during AMF commissioning, production trials, ramp-up and ongoing manufacturing optimisation.
• Mentor technical, quality and production personnel and build practical concrete technology capability across the AMF.
• Support commissioning and optimisation of batching, casting, curing and related production systems.
• Implement lower-carbon concrete using alternative binders, supplementary cementitious materials, recycled materials and innovative production methods.

What we are looking for   

• Concrete Technologist qualification or equivalent recognised technical qualification.
• Qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials Technology, Construction or a related field is preferred.
• Extensive experience in highly engineered DfMA precast concrete façade manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of concrete technology, batching and production operations.
• Concrete rheology, mix design, admixtures, curing, durability, early strength and stripping performance.
• Experience establishing and operating laboratory testing programmes and manufacturing quality systems.
• Demonstrated success developing concrete mixes for consistent workability, strength, colour and premium surface finishes.
• Hands-on experience within factory-based manufacturing environments, including investigation and resolution of production quality issues.
• Experience working across laboratory, engineering, quality and production functions and communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
