The Opportunity   

The role of Concrete Technology & Production Improvement Lead optimises concrete technology, manufacturing performance, product quality, sustainability and operational efficiency across Built Living’s precast manufacturing operations.

The role links concrete technology, manufacturing operations, quality assurance and continuous improvement to achieve structural performance, architectural finish quality, productivity, cost efficiency and sustainability.

The position leads improvement across the complete production value stream, from raw material receipt and batching through reinforcement, casting, curing, finishing, storage and finished-product release.

In this role, you will:   

• Develop, trial and optimise concrete mix designs for structural and architectural precast products.
• Ensure mixes achieve required strength, durability, workability, colour consistency, finish quality, productivity and cost outcomes.
• Own continuous improvement of architectural precast façade quality, including defect prevention, rectification and acceptance standards.
• Lead lower-carbon concrete, circular-economy and sustainable manufacturing initiatives.
• Support AMF commissioning, operational readiness, workforce capability and safe production practices.
• Develop and validate mixes, admixtures and new materials for structural and architectural applications.
• Set performance standards for workability retention, flowability, setting, early-age strength, stripping, finish and colour.
• Establish standards for visual appearance, texture uniformity, colour consistency, patching, repair and architectural acceptance.
• Develop procedures for identifying, classifying, rectifying and preventing blowholes, blemishes, honeycombing, cracking, colour variation and finishing defects.
• Establish benchmark panels, mock-ups and reference standards for façade products.
• Analyse and improve batching, reinforcement, casting, curing, demoulding, finishing, touch-up, storage, handling and final inspection.
• Lead R&D relating to concrete technologies, new materials, production innovations, 3D printing and future manufacturing technologies.
• Implement lower-carbon concrete using alternative binders, supplementary cementitious materials, recycled materials and innovative production methods.

What we are looking for   

• Concrete Technologist qualification or equivalent recognised technical qualification.
• Qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials Technology, Construction or a related field is preferred.
• Extensive experience in highly engineered DfMA precast concrete façade manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of concrete technology, batching and production operations.
• Concrete rheology, mix design, admixtures, curing, durability, early strength and stripping performance.
• Architectural façade quality, pigmentation, colour control, surface finishes, defect prevention and repair standards.
• Lower-carbon concrete, lifecycle assessment, waste reduction, recycled materials and circular-economy practices.
