Built isn’t waiting for the future. We’re building it.

This is an opportunity to help Built deliver on its commitment to be a force for good for our environment, industry, economy and society, while continuing to pursue your sporting goals. As part of Built’s Athlete Program, this role offers a genuine career in construction with the flexibility to support your athletic commitments.

The Opportunity

As SSI Coordinator, you will support our SSI Engineers and SSI Managers across multiple projects, helping project teams set and meet sustainability goals, achieve the right sustainability certifications and deliver social impact outcomes. You’ll report to the Project Manager and Sustainability Manager, and work closely with Contract Administrators, Project Engineers, Sustainability Engineers, Project Managers and Site Managers.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage and track the ESD pathway register, and set up a filing system for all SSI documentation
  • Prepare tender documentation for ESD-related trade packages and review packages for ESD compliance before they are issued to subcontractors
  • Review construction documents, product data sheets, drawings and specifications, and assess samples against ESD standards
  • Attend site meetings and promote sustainability practices during site inductions
  • Maintain the Green Star Financial Transparency spreadsheet and verify monthly Green Star reports
  • Support monthly cost reporting and identify cost savings through ESD opportunities
  • Assist Project Coordinators with procurement that meets ESD and social impact criteria
  • Coordinate pre-completion activities, including commissioning, operation and maintenance manuals and the Building Logbook
  • Coordinate team volunteer days with our charity partners

Build trusted, professional relationships with consultants and subcontractors

What we are looking for

The discipline, teamwork and drive you’ve developed through sport translate directly into this role. Alongside that, you’ll bring:

  • A tertiary qualification with a focus on sustainability
  • Prior experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of Life Cycle Assessment, embodied carbon modelling, and climate adaptation and resilience planning (ESD modelling a plus)
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite
  • A growth mindset, a team-first attitude and the ability to manage yourself and deliver results

Built’s Athlete Program

This role forms part of Built’s Elite Athlete Program. We’ll work with you to support your training, competition, travel and event commitments. This may include varied start and finish times, adjusted work locations or planned leave for approved athletic commitments.

In return, we ask that you give reasonable notice of your training, competition and event schedules, and communicate early about any potential impact on work, so we can balance your sporting goals with the needs of the team.
