This is a rare opportunity to become the primary storyteller for one of Australia’s leading construction businesses. As Senior Writer, you will shape how Built tells its story - capturing the projects, people and ideas that define our reputation and bringing them to life across long‑form editorial, digital channels and emerging AI‑enabled platforms.
The Opportunity
As Journalist / Senior Writer, you will own Built’s long‑form storytelling and editorial voice. You will source stories from across the national business, craft compelling narratives that support brand and growth objectives, and maintain Built’s single source of truth story library to power consistent, multi‑channel communication.
In this role, you will:
- Act as Built’s primary long‑form writer and editorial lead
- Identify, source and develop stories across projects, people, culture and performance
- Write editorial features, project stories, thought leadership and case studies
- Maintain and curate Built’s centralised story library as a single source of truth
- Ensure stories are current, accessible and ready for multi‑channel use
- Collaborate with Brand, Content, Corporate Affairs and Submissions teams to align narratives
- Translate long‑form stories into short‑form outputs through structured AI prompts
- Support social and digital publishing through close collaboration with content specialists
- Ensure website and digital editorial content remains accurate and up to date
What we are looking for
You are an experienced writer or journalist with strong editorial judgement and a sharp instinct for what makes a story resonate. You are curious, credible and comfortable engaging with senior leaders, site teams and technical specialists to uncover stories others might miss.
- Experience in journalism, editorial writing or professional content roles
- Demonstrated ability to produce high‑quality long‑form editorial and case studies
- Strong interviewing and research capability across complex or technical environments
- Experience managing a content library or editorial pipeline
- Comfort working across construction, infrastructure, property or professional services environments
- Strong understanding of brand narrative and tone of voice
- Confidence using generative AI tools to scale and accelerate content production
- Highly organised, detail‑oriented and collaborative
